DigiSID Final Release
Posted by: icabod on Friday, October 24, 2003 - 11:29
In something of a raww.org exclusive, I've been sent the Final
Release of "DigiSID", a music-player originally shown at the
recent Zlincon 2003 party. The player, written by Poke, demos
the emulation of ST tunes (with SID voice) on a Speccy.
It sounds... well I don't actually know coz I'm at work, but
according to reports it's very good. So you should download it
for yourself and check it out. Some info about the player
follows...
Optimal machine (for best sound quality):
- ZX 128, +2, +2a, +3.
Optimal emulator(for best sound quality):
- SPIN, SPECTACULATOR, KLIVE.
DigiSID sound routine need absolute frequency precision
for: Z80,AY and ULA. If this options isn't filled, sound is
poor and maybe border line is moving in frame.
Sorry Pentagon and Scorpion users. You haven't original
Speccy128. You haven't correct ULA and AY timing.
Original ZX128 parameters which must be filled:
Main ZX Frequency = 35.4690Mhz (or 2*17.734475Mhz for
ZX128)
ULA128 Frame profile: 311 * 228T
- (70908T per Frame)
CPU clock frequency = Main ZX Frequency / 10
- (3.54690 Mhz generate from Main ZX Frequency xtal)
AY clock frequency = Main ZX Frequency / 20- (1.77345 Mhz generate from Main ZX Frequency xtal)

I downloaded the described program and remade the bootloader
under TR-DOS. If anyone is interested, I can post it here or
in ZXNET.UUE. The ZIP archive size is approximately 76 KB.
Best regards, Ivan Roshchin.

Throw it of course, only better in ZX.SPECTRUM
or for soap if it’s not difficult: newart@hotbox.ru
What is this? I tried to run it on the emulator, but there
only a small text was written and a picture was displayed,
and then all over again. There was no music

I’ll send it by e-mail, but I don’t have it in ZX.SPECTRUM
possibilities.
VK> What is this?
As far as I understand, this program demonstrates the possibility
playing Commodore 64 music on the ZX Spectrum.
I will quote Yerzmyey’s letter in which he says
about the program:

Subject: ZX sounds like C64 now!!!!!
Files: SIDSOUND.ZIP
--====----====----====----====----====----====----====----====----====----===--
Yup! That's right!!
I'm proud to announce that two great persons from Central Europe - Poke &
Omega - have made something really important for Spectrum world.
Now ZX SPECTRUM sounds like Commodore 64. We can make C64-like songs using
our humble AY chip!!!!!Load this demo (first demo for ZX with SIDsound mode!) and listen to the
music!! 14 minutes of completelly new sound!!
Factor6 said it's not quite finished, but final version should be available
today, at www.raww.org
For now the prog works only on following models of ZX:
ZX 128+
ZX +2
ZX +2A
ZX +3
Didaktik Gama 128 (with Melodik of coz)
We're waiting unpatiently for version for other ZX models!!
If You have no any of mentioned above model of Speccy, You can use emulator.
I used Z80Stealth (ideal AY emulation) switched on ZX 128 and it worx
correctly!!
As I was talking about SidSound on Speccy for long time, I officially
congratulate Poke & Omega.
Btw, ppl - now it's time for writting some cool tracker, isn't it?!?!?! ;)

У меня на "Пентагоне" работает. Может, качество звука и не
такое, как задумывалось, но сравнить мне не с чем.

Hello, lvd
Have you heard any new melodies using DigiSid technology? There would be an editor
Eh, this could be done! And in the only demonstration I wrote music
obviously a programmer (genius!), but not a musician...

What's the point? This is the same as Digital (in software implementation).
The music, as far as I remember, was written by Skavenger (or something like that), a recognized musician
on Atari, from there it was converted into DigiSid.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I understand, the cops are slowing down. The track is interesting + I should study the player
or look for the source code - it was promised that they would be published

Hello, The Exploited
At the beginning of the game Raw Recruit [http://trd.speccy.cz/gamez/r/RECRUIT.ZIP] too
The little bus was also creaking, and stripes of the same color were running along the curb. But
there was just a boom boom as if under AY. ....... Now I looked and saw what it was
did Creators.

Apparently this mega-muson was sculpted by the legendary Tim Follin;
I don’t agree that there’s boom boom

Hello, alexeenko
Geez...
give me two!
where is the tracker for such a mega sound? :)
(by the way, if you set all the emulator parameters as in file_id.diz, then the border
it will generally be black, and the sound will not wheeze. highest quality)

Hello ch41ns4w
ch4> I was actually talking about spec...
So Mouzon is written on Atari, on the spec there is only a player, or rather an unpacker.
