the passage of the signal, which is assumed to be equal to the speed of light, this is due.
A standing wave appears (or rather does not go out but is reflected) if the wire outputs
not compensated by active resistance equal to characteristic impedance
wires (and characteristic impedance is related to inductance and capacitance
wires). Precisely because (maybe anyone remembers? ;)) on coxel from computers, wave
the resistance of which is 50 ohms, caps were hung at the ends (also 50 ohms)
om;)). That is why the limit for 10MBit Ethernet is 2.5 km of wire
- to reliably detect interference and reflected waves.
And the meaning is this - a croak can be so that such a short wire forms
such big interference - after all, there is no electric welding nearby, and there are no powerful
energy consumers (read: jammers).
