Greetings, All!
I'm wondering why on all the monicas I've met
purple color is decomposed into two components - red and
the blue one that doesn't quite match the screen?
Moreover, I saw this both on video monitors and on SVGA...
Is there some kind of delay when drawing this color?

Beam convergence is not configured. As a rule, the center is fine,
and at the edges you can see something like this. Not necessarily with red and blue
color. In good and tuned monitors the discrepancy is minimal,
in Chinese and upset it is very noticeable, which limits the resolution
monitor (stated 1024x768, but displays more or less normally
only in 800x600). If you don't count trinitrons, that is, picture tubes
two types, differing in the location of the phosphor dots:
Type 1. Type 2.

(H) (K)
If you look closely, you can easily see what kind of
kinescope. As a rule, in type 1 the cathodes are located in the same way,
and in type 2, the cathodes are located on the same straight line. In the case when
cathodes are located on one straight line; setting up the information is simpler and canbe made with special magnets mounted on the neck of the kinescope.
For type 1 picture tubes, the convergence setting is incredibly complex and is performed
on a kinescope (roughly) and a correction circuit (capacitors, coils)
turned on in front of the deflection system (exactly).
If you want to configure it yourself, it’s better not to bother. If you really want it
then get a competent book on TV repair that describes the procedure
beam convergence settings, and follow the instructions, especially when it comes to
kinescopes of the 1st type. Without instructions, you won't set up anything, but you'll do it
even worse - tested from my own experience. Well, of course, you need
program for displaying on the screen tuning tables such as "grid" and "points"
different colors (white on black, as well as all combinations of two colors).
I would also like to note that any kinescope is strongly influenced by any magnetic
fields, for example nearby transformers, permanent magnets
(in audio speakers), etc. And external magnetic fields may be the cause
distortion of color purity and the cause of ray convergence detuning. And most
The main thing is that the kinescope is affected by the earth's magnetic field. As a result,
configured kinescope, when changing its spatial (turned,
for example) and the geographical location may no longer be entirely
finely tuned. For type 1 picture tubes this is especially noticeable - oldTVs like "Rainbow-716" were supposed to be adjusted at the place of their installation.
PS: there is only one conclusion - a crazy “white” monitor is better than a new “yellow” one...

I saw picture tubes with dots of the second type - it looked terrible.
In the first type, the points are denser, and in the second
vertical gaps appear, especially on the main ones (RGB)

Three colors (red, blue, green) is the minimum number of colors
from which you can build white. And therefore all other colors.
Moreover, this is true only for emitting colors, i.e.
monitor screen.
When using reflected light, a different color mixing is used - CMYK.
AS an example - a sheet of paper with different squiggles)
Here in CMYK the yellow color is used (Yellow)Moreover, in practice they use not 4-color paints, but 5-color ones -
they add black color to CMYK so as not to deal with bullshit with cerny
text %)
However, there are other color mixes, 6 colors...
Now let’s take a look at economics - what’s easier/cheaper to do:
a monitor that has only three color enhancement schemes, three guns
a kinescope or 4 or more?
Estimate the difference in price for a b/w kinescope and a three-color one,
and calculate how much it will cost for 4 or more color ones.
And the last thing - if I’m not glitching, then humans have color-sensitive elements
in the eye (either cones or rods, which are responsible for the “daytime”
vision) react specifically to the RGB components of color.

They told you correctly - the convergence of the rays is not configured.
I myself once lost the convergence of the rays on the TV (when this TV was working
"monikom" from Speck).
So exactly the same picture was observed - all the colors seemed to be normal(precisely “seemingly”!), but the purple one, and closer to the edges, yes - it was falling apart
into components.

Professional monitors for working with graphics have a special
option in the menu - “adjust to the current magnetic position”.

I threw purple color across the screen in Photoshop - well, I don’t have it
such a color scheme. The color purple is everywhere.
And at work they work with layout/output (there are usual 20...21' monitors)
They also don’t complain about this “decomposition” of color.

Why, I had this happen with the very first Monica - as soon as
the green gun comes into play, so the outline appears on the right.

lines in which the color, one of the three main ones, changes every

It seems to me that picture tubes of the 1st type (with a triangular arrangement
cathodes) are particularly sensitive to the earth's magnetic field. For picture tubes with
parallel arrangement of cathodes and phosphor points of the same colors
arranged in parallel vertical rows. As a result, suchCRTs may be less sensitive to beam deflection offset
along the vertical coordinate. This is just my guess, which is very
agrees well with the position of the monitor relative to the ground field.
It turns out that the deflection system of any type 1 kinescope
must necessarily correct the influence of the earth's magnetic field.
I wonder how this works...

The only adjustment you need to make is to correct
geometry. True, I did not find such adjustments either outside or
inside the monitor. My screen is slightly trapezoidal.

Are you sure that any magnets there haven’t become demagnetized, the coils haven’t gone haywire?)
and all that stuff?
Even 8 years of standing in a closet IMHO will have a negative impact on Monica,
as on other equipment.

IMHO it’s just that the condenser in the video amplifier has lost capacity...
(as a result the phase has shifted, or the duty cycle has changed)
But in general, if it’s under warranty, it needs to be changed.

IMHO it can.
The human eye (as I have read) is highly sensitive to blue light.
And purple == red + blue, so perhaps the pupil dilates, the eye is there
somehow it focuses and a person sees individual pixels better.
