see CHRV's answer - the maximum LBA can be addressed is 128g. but, in principle,
smaller screws can use LBA48 (with the most significant bits zero of course
addresses. but there is no point in including these bits) if they are the least significant ones in one

You can connect everything that complies with the ATA (IDE) specification (except, of course
SerialATA). That is, at least 40MB, at least 120GB (200GB is more difficult, AFAIK, ATAPI
used), everything can be connected. Problems with "borders", as on PC, (512MB,
8GB, 32GB...) will not be available, since on the Spectrum, work is usually done using
downloadable programs, not the BIOS. The only question left is to write these
programs, or inclusion in ready-made support for Profi-IDE ports.

Ely> By the way, an interesting question. What file system does the ZX have? Fat? Or

The questions are interesting, and perhaps advanced programmers can answer them using
They just can’t do it. To get enlightened, I recommend the latest numbers (~20-2x)
Read the paragraph. There are several controller schemes and there are several options
placing files on a screw running Spectrum:
SMUC - MOA FileSystem, CP/M (?);
Nemo - IS-DOS;
ATM - CP/M, IS-DOS (Tasis);
Profi - CP/M.
Far-abroad colleagues have their own standards.
But this is what computer manufacturers offered. Using external programs
and amateur BIOS, you can also support FAT (MS-DOS). So in particular DNA OS
works with TRD and SCL images from a FAT16 screw. FAT32 support will be coming soon.
But one thing can be said - there is no end to the work here.
As for Master/Slave, it will probably work if you install the Master screw, with
Slave may have problems, IMHO, in some programs.

IMHO, Is-DOS is purely for amateurs. Support for .trd and .scl images in the form
file commander would be the best option. In this regard, DNA OS is now

Hello jtn
Hello!
"YAAAAAAAAA, it's working (C) Prostokvashino ;-)))"
In general, I put everything together, connected a 2.5 gig screw, connected a disk drive, but
There are problems with the TV, in general, while through the video input, the screen is sometimes unstable,
Overall, it's a bummer. The keyboard is bad, I'm thinking about connecting HT/AT... But to the drive
refers, and to the screw. Everything seems to be OK.
That's why I have questions.
In the pro descriptions in versions 3,4 and 5, it is indicated that you can connect a keyboard from
PeeCee. Where should I connect it? The keyboard has signals CLK, Data, +5, GND (for XT -
additionally also /RESET). Well, the last two are understandable. Where are the exits from IR22
and the inputs to IR22 there are two signals that are incomprehensible to me. Maybe this is them?
Namely /CSKBD (10th connector pin) and /KBW (9th). /CSKBD - apparently a poll
keyboards (signals /OE registers). There is also an F2T signal that connects
to the C-input of the registers.
I still think /CSKBD is the XT keyboard's CLK signal, right?
Where should the data signal be sent?
And one more thing... From history. What is the difference between AT and XT keyboards?
Now one more thing. True, it may be off-topic, but forgive me, oh dear
moderator!!!
TV Panasonic TC-2170R. I took it apart, moved the board aside and started
look out for the familiar letters RGB and SYNC. Having not seen anything like this, I decided
ask YOU where they are? I searched for the TV circuit diagram on the internet, oryou need to register (and after that whether they will give it or not is unknown), or it’s broken
link. No, you don’t need to send me the TV schematic, just someone, if
you know, write - where can I poke? ;-))). Previously, about 10 years ago, I connected
to the lamps in UPIMCT ;-))), there are no problems, but here there’s simply nothing signed,
only the numbers of radio elements and the BKE islet for transistors.
PLEASE answer!!!
Ilya.
Bye.
ZYZH About RGB - PAL compressors. I’m here in Novosibirsk, not so long ago, about a couple
weeks ago, I was looking for mikruhi CXA1645, CXA1145 and KA2198BD. I went around all the shops,
I was at Dachnaya - no one had anything. Some kind of nightmare. Then there was another one
step. I went to a flea market and looked for broken Dandy cars. But, as luck would have it, “Dandies” are not the same.
That is, without these little things. Apparently, the compressor is right on the board - a cake. In general,
that's why I want to connect to RGB. Well, this is a retreat.
ZYYZH About the screws. I actually meant is there any software
software FOR PC, not on Spectrum. That is, I downloaded it from the internet and uploaded it
“Norton” and copied it. Much more convenient than a tape recorder, a disk drive - ugh
;-))).

It was assumed that keyboard signals connected to unused lines
#FE port can be handled by a special keyboard driver.
I have never seen such a driver, especially since for it to work you need
use a hardware interrupt, which is problematic.
As a result, this idea was apparently abandoned later.
Please note that connecting an IBM keyboard this way does not provide a replacement
Spectrum keyboard, since all software designed for matrix
connecting keys simply won’t see it.

I asked about the Spectrum, I asked about the PC. Is there some kind of program, like,
"Norton", or something similar, so that, say, you can download some kind of toy from the internet and
threw it on IDE PC, on the screw. Then I connected the screw to the ZX, where you use it
files that I downloaded... Is it really not clear?.. ;-)))

For the IBM keyboard to work, a controller is required, to which the CLK and
DATA from her.
The controller provides conversion of IBM keyboard scan codes into an understandable form
Spectrum - closure of one or more nodes in the 8*5 keyboard matrix.
For Pro there is a circuit diagram and firmware for a keyboard on a microcontroller from the series
MSC48.
But it seems to me more reasonable to install the controller on the AT90S2313.
Considering the circuit design of the Pro, you can get by with one microcontroller and one
element LL1 (OR).
Ely> And one more thing... From history. What is the difference between AT and XT keyboards?
1) different data reception/transmission protocol (XT-8-bit, AT-10-bit);
2) different tables of scan codes.

Preconceived opinion. Yes, I'm almost sure that NedoPC's developments are of high quality and
convenient, but they only target their own product. It's natural
situation - the manufacturer is trying to support its product and focuses
system primarily on him. And that's good! BUT, there are other computers,
which are still working. And their users also want to enjoy the “benefits”
life. And if possible, their needs must be met.

There is no need to install it, it is a regular TRDOS program. Face DNAOS
requires improvement and no one denies this, but using the system is quite
really. And “the devil is not as terrible as he is painted”!

Pure lies! You need the regular 5.03. In this case, DNA OS acts as
copier from FAT to TRDOS floppy disk. I can’t answer about the RAM disk (not me
I am writing DNAOS).

Well, as I understand about the keyboard - Featured ;-))), I mean, it's a bummer. Same with the screw.
Connect - connected, but it still won’t work? Nightmare!!!

About the screw... Everyone says - Fat-fat-fat... Well, there is no Fat-a on the ZX. Anyway

And also, let's stick to the topic... The question was about Profi, not about sprinters, not
about ATM or others. Otherwise they loaded me up... Who is already starting to talk about what.
And a lot of things are becoming more unclear to me. Otherwise Fat, yes Fat... Why format
screw under Fat, if Profi doesn’t see it later?..
In general, I would like the screw to work with any file system, hell
with him. You can try to transfer files using a COM port (I hope this is
it will be possible to do...)
Okay, I understood a lot ;-))). And in general, it’s easier to work with a tape recorder ;-))). Eh,

Nothing biased. Although at one time (or rather, a couple of weeks ago) I
I was very offended by the clumsy promotion of this product by Dima Bystrov like “Hurray!
Now we have an OS with FAT, now everyone needs to quickly
throw out all sorts of CPUs and isdos and urgently support DNA OS." From this
I admit, there was slight irritation initially. But nothing more. I wouldn't like myself
I would respect it if I transferred it to a biased attitude towards the system. Therefore
I’m not criticizing the OS itself, not the idea (in fact, there is something there
criticize from a third-party adviser on the principle of “taste and color” -
based on personal preferences of one or the other. But it will be real
subjective), namely the approach to release - to produce (I repeat again and again) raw
semi-finished product, which regularly changes kernel versions for a huge event, for
A product that you need to start using immediately is a hasty step. If
who watched (even on an emulator) the recently released mon OS TASiS by our auspices, then ininformation file included with the FDI image, you may have read the following
words:
> Any, even the coolest system means nothing without it
> software harness. Therefore, much attention was paid specifically
> release of a more or less sane collection of software, for which it was
> a lot of work has been done on “localization” for specific

> a single functional complex.
If anyone doesn’t understand, then the phrase about “ver.0.033beta”, “ver.0.426beta” is exactly
first “hello” to DNA OS and similar beta releases. I repeat here - when
the user (in this case, me) downloads a new program for the first time, and for a long time
trying to figure out what to click where so that at least one meaningful thing opens
window and at least one utility starts, but the program starts to glitch and
eventually resets the computer, that is, there is a high probability that this
the user (in this case not me) will simply delete this program and more about
won’t remember it, no matter what new versions come out, because the first
the impression is the strongest. And if we are not talking about a program, but about an entire OS, then
Constant shaking up of the kernel and the release of new versions is generally contraindicated!Stability is important to the user of such an OS! To install the OS, and
you work for years, only adding new utilities, changing the kernel only with the release
really important innovations, or a FUNDAMENTALLY new version. Beta versions
should be sent exclusively to specially selected beta testers.
By the way, I hope now everyone understands why I delayed so long with the release of xBIOS and
TASiS (and there were so many sobs - well, where to download, when will it be!). And now
Still, admit that it really turned out to be a piece of candy! What if I
intermediate versions would be thrown for another month (and sometimes weekly), with all of them
intermediate glitches? I'm willing to bet that the impression of these products would be
different, and for the worse.
Therefore, I am not biased towards DNA OS, and certainly am NOT AGAINST it.
ON THE REVERSE! I support it in every possible way, and that is why I criticize certain
sides of the subject development process! I REALLY WANT OUT OF HER
THERE WAS SOMETHING WORTHWELLING. But this is still a little far away.

Well, actually, as Dima Bystrov told me, support for the ATM screw is appropriate
driver is quite real. So this system is also relevant to ATM.
Accordingly, she can count on support from NedoPC, which
supports everything related to ATM, including further
support software and outdated brake CP/M, although it already exists
high-speed TASiS.

You can actually run it from a TR-DOS floppy disk. But when working with screw
Still, you need to “install” - mark and format the sections of the screw, distillsystem files there. Even if I have the wood for the ATM screw, I wouldn’t yet
I would risk doing this - what else will ruin it for me, at the next reset - the last one
I haven’t looked at the version of the system that Pasha Pavlov recently posted. But
the previous one, sent to me by Dima, was glitchy and reset with terrible force
(I watched it both on emulation and in real life). Maybe this version will be better. But
again, what is the conclusion: such intermediate versions of the system cannot be shown
to no one except beta testers. I am a simple user in relation to this system. And
install it for myself while I wait - no bias, just common sense and
sober calculation. I'll just wait for better times (as I said - let the crane
descends on his own). Maximum - I will help developers with information for the screw driver and
ATM RAM disk.

we were talking about LAUNCHING images from DNA OS. And this is right here
at the beginning of discussions about DNA it was presented (if I remember - by Ewgeny7) as, along with
with support for FAT16, as a kind of progressive phenomenon compared to iS-DOS.
I agree about FAT. But the question about images raised my objections. Yes
how, with a modified TR-DOS ROM, this system could
download/run images back in the late 90s (if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time
(We don’t take SMUC, there is a special situation here) was used in KAY-1024), and without this
modification successfully performed the functions of an image copier from/to real floppy disks
since the introduction of the OS in 1992/1993.

And what prevents them from getting together and supporting their hardware, as we did, and
in initially worse starting conditions: unlike ATM, there was never a Proa half-forgotten clone, and its high memory standard has always been actively maintained.
They would also support the screw! In the meantime, I only heard in the fidosh echo (for about a year
ago) reproaches towards iS-DOS from active user Profik Alexey
Tarasova, like, I don’t like his style - he’s kind of slow and doesn’t work with a propeller
It works at all, but my digital digital processing unit on the screw makes SO RUNNING! Yeah - that's the principle -
“yes, the grapes are still green” - there is no screw driver for Profik, which means the system
bad and slow. And he argues by comparing the work of CP/M ON THE SCREW with the work
iS-DOS ON THE FLOP (Gee! No one tried to load MS-DOS onto the PC from a floppy disk, and then
should I work with her? I experimented like this on 286 in my old school days.
I won’t do it again for any price)!
So everything is in their (Profik users) hands.

Well, not exactly in ancient times, but in the years 1998-99 this was written for KAY-1024
(working with v-disk only through #3D13) and has long become a standard part of it
firmware. Accordingly, it is still used today. Later it was adapted (from
adding a bunch of new bells and whistles) to Pentagon-1024 by Dima Bystrov (known
like TR-DOS v6.08) (according to rumors, and to Profik, but I have no confirmation), and
used as part of the firmware "mr. GLUK RESET SERVICE".
You can also note the version of TR-DOS for SMUC Scorpa, which also works with
TRD images through point #3D13, but not in the upper memory (which does not matter for
Skorp-256 doesn’t have enough of this), but right on the screw.
This year also saw the release of vTR-DOS v2.4 (based on TR-DOS v5.04) for ATM-turbo 2+,
working on a similar principle in a megabyte of memory, but through low-level
software emulation of VG93 commands. Accordingly, not only 100% prog works, using point #3D13, but also the vast majority (although not 100%) of progs,
using point #3D2F and some other non-standard inputs. This version
TR-DOS is used as part of a special xBIOS firmware, with a total volume of
128Kb.

adapt VTRDOS - the pros have everything for this (MBYTES of RAM and RAM in the window

Hello, Maksagor
Hello everyone!
The topic has gone far into an unknown direction.
I decided to connect the XT keyboard to the ZX. The details are all there, in general, the diagram
Also, unfortunately, it seems to me that there are a lot of errors on it. Therefore the questions.
8th pin BE35, RD signal - where? In fact, there seems to be nowhere for him, because everything
works for WR, am I right?
The 16th pin of DD3, signal 7, is called the RESC bus - where?
The 10th pin of DD3, the RES signal, is called the RES bus - connect to DD1, pin 4?
If yes, then where to /RES (inverse)?
Another interesting thing is... The WAIT signal (without inversion) comes out of the 8th pin,
TM2. And there is a signal /WAIT (inverse), connected to connector X2, pin 9. This
the same thing?
The same goes for CSK and /CSK, inverse and without inversion.
Pin 8, X2, is connected to what through a diode? To pin 17 of DD4?
Maybe I haven't noticed any other errors? Answer please...
Ilya.
Bye.

Hello Elya
Ely> ... questions.
Ely> 8th pin BE35, RD signal - where? In fact, it
Ely> seems to be nowhere, because everything works on WR, am I right?
It is not used in the scheme.
Ely> The 16th pin of DD3, signal 7, is called the RESC bus - where?
This is the output signal of the controller (pin 16 of register IR22-DD4) to reset Z80.
Connects via a diode to pin 8 of the Profi 5.xx keyboard connector
The active level is 0, so it should be designated /RESC.
Ely> 10th pin of DD3, RES signal, called bus
Ely> RES - connect to DD1, pin 4?
Ely> If "yes", then where /RES (inverse)?
Signal /RES from pin 19 (not from pin 10 - this is GND) of the IR22 register
through a delay circuit (RC chain) and the inverter through a diode is supplied
to reset the microcontroller (pin 4).
Ely> Another interesting thing is... WAIT signal (without inversion)
Ely> comes out of pin 8, TM2. And there is a /WAIT signal
Ely> (inverse), connects to connector X2, pin 9.
Ely> Is this the same thing?
Yes, see below.
Ely> The same thing about CSK and /CSK, inverse and without inversion.
This is the keyboard port read signal. For the controller it is inputand since its active level 0 is designated /CSK (pin 10 X2).
This signal is fed through the inverter to input 11 of the TM2 trigger,
which when set to 1 input D (pin 12 TM2) sets /WAIT
on pin 9 X2 (puts the Z80 into standby mode).
Ely> Pin 8, X2, is connected to what through a diode?
Ely> To pin 17 DD4?
see above.

the problem is worth it.
Ely> Why format the screw for Fat if Profi won’t see it later?..
Strange question Someone asked earlier:
Ely> Oh, actually another question. Is there any software for PC

If software is written on the domestic Spec, it is mainly only under TR-DOS. On
Profi screw support was implemented only under CP/M. In a word, in
currently on Profi, as well as most other models (except perhaps
Scorpion+SMUC and ATM2plus+VTRDOS), there is no way to use the variety of software
written under TR-DOS from a screw. Standard for placing files on a screw as
there is no such thing, or rather there are several at once (MOA FS, IS-DOS, continuous

option, you can localize (adapt) VTRDOS for other clones
(Scorpion, Profi, Pentagon-1024), although you will also need software for a PC. KI am equally positive about both decisions. But if Profi support (and
other clones) will be produced in DNAOS without your participation (for free), then
you will have to adapt VTRDOS on your own, especially since the website

Let's just say that the developer of DNAOS (Dima Avryata) at one time was engaged in reworking
TR-DOS 5.13f (version with support for RAM drive C: in the upper memory) under
Pentagon with 2MB of memory according to the Profi+Pentagon hybrid standard. So for sure
this guess is correct. More precisely, you need to ask the author.
The author does not have a website, nor does he have more or less free access to the INTERNET,
so if you have any questions, you need to write an E-mail to:
zet9_zx(et)mail.ru, and he will send a bunch of documentation to everyone who wants it. In general,
a fairly solid description of the system has been published and placed in the appendix toInfernoGuide7: http://trd.speccy.cz/press/inferno/INFERNO7.ZIP.

I partially agree with this. The product is raw, that's why the version starts with
U0F. The policy of posting versions every day also irritates me. And I
I agree that the raw version is worse than none. There was a lot of talk about this
with the requirement to bring it to mind, and then show it to people. This is the solution
manufacturer. But, there are several excuses. Firstly, this phenomenon started
not on Spec, and is most likely explained by Work for the interest of F. That is, if
a person does not have any material benefit from his activity, he is trying to do this
compensate by communicating with consumers. Moreover, this phenomenon is practiced
for product testing - the more people test the product at different stages
design, the easier it is to find a mistake. Therefore, there is no need to be irritated
You can use the system as such only with v1.0. Secondly, replacement
versions began to happen for the reason that somewhere something didn’t work out for someone.
That is, the first beta testers appeared, they pointed out errors, and in order tocontinue further work needed to be provided for experiments
partially stable version. On good terms, of course, there should be a website for this
project to have, but on the one hand we are not the West, where every coffee grinder is connected to iNet
connected :), and on the other hand, maintaining the site also requires resources of time and
finance.

Can you tell me where they are? About the system, except for the developer and two relatives
No one knew anyone they knew, or even about the developer. Since actually
it was possible to find beta testers C not Letters of happiness should be sent to all spektrumists
> Any, even the coolest system means nothing without it

I agree 100%. And this is a problem for all Axes, except IS-DOS and CP/M, written
on Speck. And this is their main problem. Almost every little bit
using Assembler (others are not applicable on Spec), trying to write his own
AXIS If we now count all OS projects, we can count them from 20 and above.
It is clear that this work is practically meaningless. On the other hand, the solution
coming first to an outside observer C to unite the efforts of all developers
into a single project is pointless. Speck very specific computer resources resources extremelynot enough, and it will not be possible to cross a bulldog with a rhinoceros here. If you remember
history with Lindows, then everything will become clear - what was separately required
enough weak machines in total required a powerful computer and at the same time did not perform
all tasks that were easily implemented on the original systems separately.
As for software, DNAOS is an add-on to TR-DOS. And therefore the software for
It contains all previous developments for TR-DOS. The only exceptions are
some system utilities and device drivers (essentially disk
copiers) and file launchers, to support emulator formats (SCL,
Z80, SNA). Some of this software is already in the system, the rest
it takes time. As for screen drivers and other serious OS loads,
then it was decided to abandon this; no one on Speck will ever use this
there won't be.

I don’t know the subtleties, unfortunately I didn’t delve into it :( But, IMHO, the system is the same

What was before required, in order to put images onto a screw on a PC, also software
for this PC. And I must say that the software is not very simple, in addition to working with the screw on
low level, they used not ordinary TRD engines, but images in a specific
format, so simply put, you can’t do without a disk drive.
