Hello, SfS It would be interesting to find the ROM firmware from it. Otherwise I had to half-dead Nikos, pick it out and install the standard one :(

Hello Alchemist Alc> It would be interesting to find the ROM firmware from it. Otherwise I had to from my own Alc> half-dead Nikos pick it out and install the standard one :( In short, I went and looked! There really are a ton of parts from Nikos there. Plat, microcircuits... They even prop up the legs of machine tools with them :)(: In the evening Nikos should be fitted in the form of two boards without a housing. Two boards, one - mother, the second - interface (disk drive, printer). I hope nothing goes wrong. If there is a ROM in the socket, I’ll count it and post it :)

Hello, All Today I found out that the Nikos company, which produced a ZX-compatible clone in Tomsk a computer with a bunch of extensions (floppy drives, hard drives, memory and even something like network card) is alive. I called them and talked. It turns out they have (according to them) about 1000(!) kits for assembling these Spectrums. Today I'll go take a look with my own eyes. They say You can buy a ready-made computer without any problems. I’ll find out the prices, if it’s not too expensive - I'll buy it :) Otherwise, my unknown clone completely burned, and the board soldered-re-soldered... At one time I had this Nikos-48 - a very good machine. Was buffering of the AP5-AP6 bus is provided and so on... The only modification is which I did for compatibility - this is the Kempston port - so that it is older 3 the bit was displayed as zero, otherwise in some places it was not auto-detected. The games all seemed to work. Among the built-in extensions there was a port for turning off the ROM and typing in its place lower 16K RAM. Additional video mode - colors were not encoded according to familiar places, but along the lines. One byte of attributes per byte of pixels, The video memory occupied exactly 12K. I modified my computer so that when when this mode was turned on, the screen started not from #4000, but from #C000 (this is also from done using a pair of wires). In short - if I manage to purchase this clone, and even in the 128K modification, I will very happy. By the way, I don’t understand why this clone has been ignored and is not widespread.

Hello dhau dha> Photos in the studio! And at the same time, let me know how much this farm costs - dha> very interesting :) There are no photos yet for obvious reasons :) But I remember what mine looked like :) But it looked assembled like an aluminum Laptop-type box :) And the size is approximately the same. The board is an ordinary yellow one, with about 80 microchip housings on it. The coolest thing is that the case perfectly resonated with the drive when it drove with heads. The noise was terrible :) I would especially like to note the convenience of the system connector on the edge of the board. If you want - solder, if you want - Clamp the board with a special connector-clamp.

Hello, SfS Is this the same Nikos that is a converted Baltic? Then the same hunt Look at legible photos on both sides of the scarf (especially without details). And that's it I'm also interested in the firmware.

From SfS To All 12 October 2005

Hello fan So everything is in order. I arrived at the Nikos company. There is complete devastation in terms of repairs, but people are working. They are now working on things far from computers - such as machine tools and so on. They dumped me on a guy there. He tried to find Nikos, but found only a bunch of unfinished boards. I thought everything was a bummer. But here, out of nowhere, loomed an old lady who said that she has Nikos at home complete with a disk drive. And she doesn’t mind giving it up for a very reasonable (although depending on how you look at it...) price. So I went to see her in the evening. And I bought Nikos-48 with a disk drive complete with keyboard and WTC monitor. Everything is working. The only drawback is The synchronization was suspiciously bad. Oh well... I opened the house case and it turned out that the transistor on which the synchro mixture is formed is soldered on three wires, 20 cm each :) I think if you put it on the board - synchronization will be normal. However, I'll check it today. In short, the situation is this (according to the guy who tried to help me at the Nikos company find a worker): everything is littered with boards and accessories; I don’t want to, but collect there is no one to do all this. These are the tops. Now the questions are: is it possible to plug in RU7 instead of RU5 and how is this most correct? do? and on which ports (except 128) should I install extended memory? If there is - ready-made diagram.

SfS> If there is a ready-made diagram. and x knows him there. It should be possible. Maybe you'll have to confuse the addresses so that regenerated normally. ports - well, on 7ffd and hang it up, why not? possible 1ffd Of course, make Scorpokaevsky.

From Alexander Zan To All 12 October 2005

Hello Ronin And I’m wondering how to properly regenerate RU7 on the Baltic/Nikos. As an option - ATAS scheme http://zx.pk.ru/showthread.php?t=1422, of course on loose You can do it on your computer even easier (if you know how ;)). And as far as I understand, the firmware is being cancelled?

Hello fan fan> As far as I understand, the firmware is being cancelled? Why are they cancelled? :) the drive works there. So TR-DOS and BASIC - download possible. All that remains is to find a 5-inch drive for the PC. So they will come later. By the way, there are also PE3 and PT4 as far as I remember. You can also download them - I have them I got two old unusable boards. I'll try to desolder them and drain them. But all this is not very fast - I don’t spend much time at home now. The only problem is the printer firmware. How not to get there without soldering the ROM - I don’t know yet.

Hello fan fan> And I’m wondering how to properly regenerate RU7 in the Baltic/Nikos. How fan> option - ATAS scheme http://zx.pk.ru/showthread.php?t=1422 I looked. I didn't understand one thing. address A8 at RU7 is not used for regeneration at all? And are there any links to a document that explains exactly how to expand memory with RU5 on RU7 in the general case. So to speak, theory with examples?

From Alexander Zan To All 13 October 2005

Hello, SfS SfS> By the way, there are also PE3 and PT4 as far as I remember. You can also download them They are exactly what we need! And the rest too ;) SfS> I have two old unusable boards. Cool, urgently pick out all the little things and take legible portraits of all the headscarves from both sides! :) Because I'm a maniac about restoring rarities in virtual form. I was pleased with the photos, I didn’t even know what this monster looked like ;) C I'm looking forward to continuing the photo shoot (with a higher resolution, times that way) two :) ). By the way, there are no diagrams from the subject??? Especially from the floppy controller??? SfS> I looked. I didn't understand one thing. address A8 at RU7 is not used for SfS> regeneration in general ? Well, yes ;) It’s just a beast made for all types of mikruhs :D Look on the left pillars of rulers D21-28. Multiplexers D45 and D46 are probably intended for regeneration RU7 and I don’t remember what (two mikruhi D29&D30) with four-bit SD. If Ronin sends photos of ATAS, I’ll make the diagram more legible. SfS> And are there any links to a document that explains exactly how to expand memory from SfS> RU5 to RU7 in the general case. Looking forward to the weekend. I'll take care of PT4 and PE3. I'm now inserting the working boards into the case I'm trying. As for “boards on both sides” - the ones I have are not worth taking pictures of - half the price is not there. fan> I was pleased with the photos, I didn’t even know what this monster looked like ;) C fan> I'm looking forward to continuing the photo shoot (with a higher resolution, that way fan> in two :) ). Look in other topics. But from interface board (there is a disk drive, a printer and bus buffers) - alas, there is no one yet. We are looking.

Hello Ronin Nikos scheme. I didn’t find it here - so here’s a new box. The quality is not very good, but there is nothing else. http://www.nedopc.org/nedopc/upload/nikos1.jpg [http://www.nedopc.org/nedopc/upload/nikos1.jpg]

From Victor Ronin To All 14 October 2005

Hello, SfS SfS> And are there any links to a document that explains exactly how to expand memory from SfS> RU5 to RU7 in the general case. So to speak, theory with examples? Well, in general, in the younger half (including a multiplexer, obviously - the same as it is there on other addresses) addresses ru7 (a0-8) you need to push a8 of the video processor into the highest one is additional bit_memory_1, but additional bit_memory_0 is hung back where it was cut off a8_video processor (in the sense of not directly there, but to this address. Because cycles different - CPU and video). SfS> Search in neighboring topics give me the link PS // but in general the most beautiful thing is to make cas before ras through RFSH/MREQ. but in On a Spectrum with one line of RAM it is easier to use a video controller.

From Alexander Zan To All 14 October 2005
