Hello, Black_Cat
Mythology of the ZX structure.
Myths are established stereotypes based on erroneous ideas.
Myths are usually based on misunderstanding or neglect of fundamental
concepts.
Myths are not always an amusing, harmless thing; they often become serious.
an obstacle to development, because distort the overall picture of reality and lead
away from the true path of development. Many of the existing ZX problems are caused by
uncritical attitude towards the myths of the ZX structure.
Myths of the ZX structure of the ex-USSR.
1) :
A computer produced on the territory of the ex-USSR, which was commonly called
, was never one, but in fact was:
"ZX-Spectrum-somewhat-compatible-computer-with-recursive-hardware"
"mulation-of-the-original", i.e. actually a hardware emulator of the original
ZX-Spectrum.
2) :
An emulator program cannot replace anything, but only supplement what is already
existing computer, because a program, being information, cannot
be executed in itself outside of computer systems, i.e. - distribution
information is impossible without a medium for disseminating information.
3) :
The Spectrum's original version has processor performance that matches
resource intensity of the periphery, while these characteristics are strictly interconnected, those. increasing the resource intensity of the periphery is impossible without proportional growth
processor performance. On the technical side, overall growth
computer performance is limited by the range of manufactured processors and
their compatibility with the user’s and consumer’s content of technical
characteristics - existing and expected (i.e. predicted in accordance with their
in demand).
4) :
The development of the ZX Spectrum platform is impossible without understanding what
platform in general. Misunderstanding of the essence of the platform leads to misunderstanding of it
components and ways of its development, and as a consequence the emergence
that has nothing to do with the development of the platform. For all time
development of the ZX platform in the territory of the ex-USSR, it acquired only two new
attributes that have become a regional standard - the TR-DOS system and the NemoBus bus.
5) :
Combining two different platforms in one computer is a necessary measure,
designed to complement the ZX platform with the capabilities available in another platform and
missing from the ZX platform. At the same time, the ZX platform itself does not receive development,
and therefore there is no need to talk about any “new path of development”.
6) :
ZX Spectrum was conceived as a computer with the most simplified circuitry, indue to which the achievement of gaming capabilities implemented on other platforms for
due to more complex circuitry, in ZX it is possible only due to the maximum
effective software code that uses exclusive access to resources. Due to this
A balance between program capabilities and performance is achieved.
Introduction of additional features such as OS, not provided
additional hardware performance will lead to imbalance and
the computer’s loss of its consumer properties and, as a consequence, interest in it
consumers. Therefore, talking about the OS as a panacea for all ills, without
a corresponding increase in computer performance is a road to nowhere.
7) :
Spectrum C is a well-balanced machine designed for a specific
consumer niche. Its relevance is determined by compliance
the requirements of this market niche, and not in megahertz and gigabytes. If the product
meets the requirements and is in demand. (Example C NDSL
