Hello SMT
Here I re-read my last messages with fresh eyes... Well, it’s one thing -
in fits and starts
typing several kilobytes of text, and quite another thing - reading it all at once ;)
One could get the impression that I was rudely attacking the ATM computer and its
manufacturer
(Forbid me! Moreover, he is the last “alive” left). This is not quite (;))
yes.
Apparently, my thought should be expressed more precisely. I believe that everything is domestic
sophisticated
clones actually consist of two computers - actually Spectrum-compatible
parts, and the second
original development, not enough of me (apparently, other Spectrumists too,
especially
now) of interest due to the lack of “entertainment” (well
you can do it...)
software and the incompatibility of these bells and whistles with other clones - regardless of
that
Whether this “second” computer is successful or not.
I don't mind the presence of this "second part" in the computer, I still proudly
called
"Spectrum-compatible", no high-tech bells and whistles for it
attached.
You just need to clearly understand which of the bells and whistles objectively work for you.
Spekovsky
mode (which means how useful it is for Spectrum programmers), and which
no. And not
trying to pass one off as the other.
Thus, most programs do not care whether they load from tape, from flop, or from
screw (adaptation,if it is needed, it does not present any special difficulties). The mouse doesn't do anything either.
it's harmful, it's true
just an addition, in extreme cases the keyboard is always at hand (exceptions
extremely
rare). The AY chip should generally be considered part of the Spectrum (even though it is "Spaniards"
came up with it")
- but its presence is not necessary for the programs to work (although it is desirable,
what to say).
But the video mode, especially since it differs greatly in addressing (or even
absolutely
a video chip that is alien “philosophically”) is a completely, completely different matter. He's for
work using
his programs are a MUST.
So even if the bloat is available from the Spectrum mode, this does not mean that it
for
useful to him. Of the ATM graphics capabilities that are really useful for
Spectrum
software, I can only recognize a changeable palette - and then mostly
installed, not
“changed along the way”, which entails a large amount of adaptation work. A
so it will be
the graphics in the game look more natural, and there is no ATM - and a regular palette
you can get by
as a last resort.
Let the “extended part” of Spectrum clones continue to improve -
whether by attaching
external bells and whistles or their integration into the circuit - I wish you success. But not
should be forgotten
that it should improve TOGETHER with the Spectrum part. And not INSTEAD of it.
