If you think that (subj) is needed, then I suggest discussing what it should be. Here's what I DOOM: 1)Resolution: 256x192x16 and 512x192x4. 2)Hardware screen scrolling (like in Dandy) 3)Additional 1MB of memory (for sprites, etc.) This is what it will roughly look like: It is based on a 1MB SIMM (though slightly modified :). When choosing a new graph. mode, one of the two video pages is connected to the area #0000-#7fff ozy, and in the area #c000-#ffff one of 128 pages of additional memory (4 of them duplicate pages of video ozy).SIMMs are faster than RUs, Therefore, all additional memory is considered by the processor as a cache, and it (processor) switches to 7 MHz mode without waiting, as is implemented in KAY-1024 (and perhaps if there are such processors and if it allows environment, 14 MHz with expectation, like a SCORPION-256 tube :). In 256x192x16 mode, each VRAM byte carries information about two pixels in format: D7-D4 - color code of the left pixel, D3-D0 - color code of the right one.Each of the 16 colors is selected from a palette of 4096 colors (12 bit - 16 gradations of brightness per RGB).
