Hello, scl^mc
scl> maybe this is a 3' floppy disk?
No, it's 3.5, but it's a non-standard version from Amstard...
I already read this on the site, and that was his problem.
But this is not a problem, the main thing is that size 3.5, I think I’ll put a regular one in there!
As a last resort, I’ll generally switch to the Pentagon, it definitely works with 3.5, the main thing is the building
buy with keyboard...
Although, of course, it will be good if there is no need to make modifications, and it’s enough
It will be easy to replace the drive, in my opinion there should also be TR-DOS...
and not another disk system

Hello, All
:v2_laugh; Guys; I decided to get a little weird!
So I decided to buy the coolest of branded specs! Use a cassette
reluctant, since initially it sat on a disk, and in general it’s inconvenient, plus
you need a more or less normal keyboard, but it needs to be Spectrum and not
A Cossack with wheels from a Mercedes, in general I settled on this variant...
I will now look for it on the Internet to buy!
However, I am tormented by doubts, the floppy disk that is licking next to me is not familiar to me what it is
for the format? Doesn't look like 3.5 or 5.25, in size, if it can be estimated
from the picture, we can assume that it is 3.5, but the window for the magnetic head is the same as in
5.25...
What format? Will it be possible to put some kind of regular disk drive in there?
It's just natural that problems will arise with transferring programs to disk...
How can that be?
P.S. I can't post a picture

Hello Lennon
So that's it. In +3 there is a 3-inch drive (if I’m not lying, with a capacity of 180K), and not
3.5. Converting to standard 3.5 is not a problem, the links are already here on the forum

Hello icebear
ice> TR-DOS is wrong (to put it mildly).
what exactly is wrong?
that a single-sided disk with increased density will have the same volume as
double-sided with regular density? At least since 5.25 this has been the case
written in the description with specific numbers and tracks.
I think 3.5 is no different, everything is the same there, and the area where they are read
I think the file headers for listing are also limited, although I don’t remember exactly
how much exactly, but I remember that I read that because of this 1.44 in full
can't be used
Although this is not important, the main thing is that you can put a regular disk drive there!
But I don’t need a domestic one, because I need a compact one and preferably
branded, so that it seems like a rarity, but I have a regular one and an emulator.

In one sentence you contradict yourself. What conclusions follow from this?
In general, there are a maximum of 128 files on a trdos floppy disk, but monoloaders were not invented
less than 15 years ago and all normal programs take up 1-2 files in the directory.
further. in my case, on one physical 1.44" disk there were 2 (two) logical

I won’t even comment on the delusional stream of consciousness about the densities of floppy disks.
(by the way, where did you find the BIOS on the Spectrum, and even with the choice of drive type)
All my life I have had a 1.44 spec drive, floppy disks with a sealed
hole (the flop identifies them as DD and works great). But I did
modification, which actually used 2x640kb = only 1.2mb, but this
because a lot of bytes are spent on service information, but in reality there is
format, and in Izdosa there is support for 1.8 MB disks (this is how regular ones are formatted

I didn’t match, I don’t know either... I just assumed.
I remember that you shared custom printed scarves, it seemed to say...
And I can solder it myself, if of course there is a diagram

limit - 128 files. that's why it's called beta disk-128
the normal size of tr-disk is 2544 sectors, which gives us 2544*256bytes=636kb.
(minus the fact that it goes to the zero track).
and now pay attention - you can use the formatter from conver commander,
which allows you to format the disk to a maximum of 2800 sectors, which gives
we have 2800*256=700kb (minus 16 sectors of system information). but the same conver
(I don’t remember the version number) it may glitch and give... 65535 sectors - if done
move an empty disk. but you can’t kill it by more than 2800

I did, links to the diagram and the seal flew here more than once.
By the way, my first BDI was some kind of board called Larus, it also had
ZX-Lprint III was. And it was without RTshek (but with quartz :)). Nobody knows
who did this? Maybe someone has a diagram?

Hello, The Exploited

but the fact that it will cost you less to take an atm card than for more than 100 euros
from behind the hill, take 128 +3 with the “left” board and then use soldering irons in it. those
Moreover, if you can’t stand climbing the board with a soldering iron, this can be done in
atm. and not particularly afraid that some old part will fall off/burn. because it's new.

Hello, scl^mc
scl> or take a ready-made one as part of the board. or a used computer
that's the point...
and then the computer is thrown into the trash, barbarism.
I would like to give out the scheme +3 and
beta disk diagram
and everything will work out!
there is no need to redo anything, it works like regular 128k
just cut beta and everything is fine
You can change the ROM so that the window has a trdos like the Pentagon...
You may have to do a little modification to switch banks
ROM... but it's not difficult I think
the main thing is that you need the Pentagon and +3

I don't need cheaper...
if there was at least a case with a keyboard, perhaps I would agree to install
there's the Pentagon...
however, neither the building itself nor the pentagon itself is so easy to find
look over there...
even if BDI has to be soldered himself

Hello Lennon
LARUS, in my opinion, is still on RT cars.
the most autonomous board is such a huge one for two 2764 ROMs and a VGshk, so
my first. I think it should fit well on the system connector.
the smallest without RTshek is Nemo, but the ROM needs to be scratched (put 27512 and the clown to
her) and the logic for turning on DOS (OUTIORQ and all that).

Hello Ronin
Ron> LARUS, in my opinion, is still on RTshki.
The board itself was quite large. Then I still had Synthesis-M, so somewhere
3/4 of the area of his board was the size of the Larus board. Do you know who produced them? And
Is there anything on the net about this controller? Question and search exclusively
nostalgic.

The> len> i.e. are you judging the work of 1.44 floppies based on the oldest emulator?
The>
The> I didn't judge, I asked!

I have Win98SE on my IBM PC-compatible computer and they are set in the BIOS
real drive values: 3.5" 1.44Mb and 5.25" 1.2Mb and all emulators and
service programs work great (in fact, they don’t work on other Windows
will work with real floppy disks).
Creating Spectrum TR-DOS disks on IBM should not cause problems:
You can at least use Spectrum Navigator.

In WinXP (2k, 2k3, ...) the emulator will work with real floppy disks
RealSpectrum32 and a set of WinTRD utilities for reading/writing/formatting TR DOS
floppy disks, but after installing the included driver.

Hello Grand
Gra> To the moderators: It might be better to move this topic to a subsection
Gra> "Miscellaneous" or "Flame"?
you can delete your messages, then there will be no flames here.
The question was if you forgot about the +3 floppy disk format.
And then the topic went a little aside, they began to discuss the feasibility of the transition
to a standard drive and in general the feasibility of converting +3 to tr-dos. But
at the same time, no one left the framework of the discussion of zx hardware.
P.S. but in principle, at the discretion of the moderator, I received the necessary information,
if the moderator considers this topic useless for others, then let him move it or
deleted.
