In the mid-90s, A. Veremeenko (?) made a device for connecting MFM hard drives for Spectrum. The device was connected in this way, then there instead of a regular disk drive. Only for switching disk images it I didn’t use a button, but some kind of standard signal going to the disk drive. Then It was possible to switch disk images programmatically. Later the author led work on connecting IDE hard drives in a similar way. I even called him, I was interested in what stage he was at in his work on this project. But Apparently due to low demand, all work was curtailed. It's a pity... All this was written about on the pages of the ZX-Review.
