Analytics of development standardization: terminology.

Positioning, ideology, platform.
Unfortunately, a lack of understanding of some basic concepts used in
planning the product life cycle makes it impossible to separate them from
general set of factors, and as a consequence of the impossibility of analyzing the current
situation and correct assessment of reality. Below, using the example of three ZX clones
I will try to reveal the essence of some concepts.
Platform.
Platform C is established, i.e. generally accepted or by standardization
a set of platform-forming factors.
Platformability - compliance with the totality of platform-forming factors.
Dynamic platforming - the process of emergence of unstable combinations
platform-forming factors.
Architecturality.
Computer architecture is the logical organization, structure and resources
forming an information dissemination environment.
Architecture - a set of factors that form the architectural
organization.
The ideology of computer architecture is the vector of the direction of development of this
architecture.
Market positioning of the product.
The market consumer niche determines the ideology of computer architecture, i.e.
direction of development through which implementation is carried out
positioning in this consumer niche. At the same time existing
a computer's architecture determines its current market positioning.
Analysis.The analysis will be carried out mainly from the point of view of market positioning.
Let's take Scorpion, Turbo-2+, KAY-1024 as objects of consideration.
KAY-1024.
Positioned as a mass computer for a wide range of users.
Hence standardization, standardization, and more standardization. Nothing
superfluous, only necessary, and not at the level of declarations like:
we'll screw it on and issue it as the last squeak of the ZX structure, and the software for can

is for the average user, not for ZX sceners. This was

constructiveness, in turn, led to the absence of any logical
connectedness in the development of computer architecture, which in turn led to
the fact that all the innovations remained purely Scorpio bells and whistles
had no influence on the development of the ZX platform.
ATM/Turbo-2+
Architectural analysis.
Initially positioned as professional development for the Pentagon, with
the prospect of entering the consumer niche of PC-class business computers, which

Conclusions:
Due to a misunderstanding of the interrelationships between the ideology of computer architecture development, its
connection with the market consumer niche, there was no logical structure in
development of ATM/Turbo-2+ and, as a consequence, certainty in the market
positioning, as a result of which the computer never occupied any
certain market niche and today it is difficult to say who is
its consumer. While there is no competition in the market, such
the position has little effect, because there's not much to choose from, but with
with the emergence of even minimal competition, these disadvantages of Turbo-2+ will manifest themselves
will become decisive.
