DAY ONE
With great interest I went to the Chaos Construction'99
demo party. By interest usually mingled with a professional -
I myself have participated in over 3 years in the organization
ENLiGHT demo party (95 .. 97), I was curious as to cope
Organizers here. I must admit, still about a month before I
CC'99 attended at the invitation of the organizers of one of
their assembly as a "freelance consultant. Since then
there were still many uncertainties to the placement and
technique, my predictions (Which incidentally I do not
advertise) were not too optimistic. It turned out my worries
were completely in vain.
So the morning of 3 July, I left the house and after half
an hour, around 12.30, approaching the school at Bryantseva 10,
where and should pass Chaos Construction. Already close to the
school I had seen three persons. Personality had a
characteristic appearance, in hand, each had a bottle of beer,
in addition, one of them carried two plastic bags in which
something fun zvyakalo. I mentally multiplied the number of
individuals on the 100 and I start bad mood. However, it did
not last long. At the entrance to school wore a sign "Chaos
Constructions", people smoked on the porch confirmed that the
party will really be. Climbing on the second floor, in front of
the auditorium, I found a small turn, to which both joined. In
the corridor leading to the hall people get tickets (they cost
50p) and questionnaires to vote in first day (as far as I know,
and both had the all). Significant, if not central role in the
visitors and participants played a laptop from Toshiba
(8088/2MB/3.5FDD, MSDOS2.20, 640x200LCD). His serve

Girls' entrance was free, although the number is unlikely to
strongly influenced - there were 5 or 6.
After registering, I went into the auditorium. This was
standard school auditorium, chairs have been added
benches from the gym. Ahead, on the stage of confusion among

triumphantly towering screen on which was projected

Hall was not yet complete, however, looking ahead to say that

was nothing.
Immediately struck by the black-and-white image on the
screen. It turned out that due to technical problems (all in
the final ultimately comes down to it;) was from Spectrum color
picture could not be obtained, although all of the duplicate
and even a small color monitor on the right. With PC / Amiga in
this regard problems as was told not expected. The sound came
from the same small size columns on either side of the stage.
As compo ZX Spectrum performed Scorpion 256 Turbo +, GMX,
General Sound Adapter Screw, mice and other things.
Meanwhile, a significant portion of the people who
approached form a small dam at the ZX Spectrum - has started (or
continued?) acceptance of entries. This procedure is strongly
dragged on, however, no clear timetable and not announced.
Yet taken the work was tuning glands. Periodically
the screen flashed various spouts, splash TRDOS, a couple of
times I even noticed the headband with the words "Programmer
FLASH":) Between series occasionally ran Sergei Frunze with
SVHS camera - in Throughout the party, he very carefully took

will be a film about CC'99. In addition, there were several
people with amateur TV cameras and cameras. Finally, the music
in the columns abated, on stage with the explicit intention to

Competition starts on ZX Spectrum. The first was to be
Wild compo, but it turned out that it represented only
one job that went out of the competition (ie, has been shown
without a vote). In all compo declared number, then
is shown by. Then again, number, etc. work. Microphone,
alas, disappeared somewhere after the opening party and more on
the first day I have not seen him. On the Graphics compo been
exposed to 24 pictures. Due to confusion with the numbers they
have shown three times, although I do not think that this is
something affected. Among the graphics were a few on I think
not bad things, but the masterpieces they are not pulled.
Somewhere around three o'clock in the afternoon started
Music compo. Music It was also decently - 21 module. Somewhere
in the first half, I listened, and then distracted and
therefore do not undertake to evaluate the competition Overall,
I would mention only that one tune frankly blows out Second
Reality (PC). In the second part of the Music compo were
outside competition lost three General Sound (another standard
/ glandule for the sound on ZX Spectrum, besides the usual AY
8912) melodies. About an hour Music compo has ended and been
declared break - all scattered around the room and outdoors.
Incidentally, with regard to streets - empty field in front of
the porch was in very handy.
In the corridor as usual going communication. At least I
personally seen people from Moscow, Voronezh, Vladivostok,
Novgorod, and if you look through the list of reserved and
actually bought Tickets (organizers gave me access to this
information) then ex-Soviet Union was represented quite widely.
In addition to those mentioned, was also attended by people
from cities: Stary Oskol, Minsk, Arzamas, Krasnodar, Russia,
Rybinsk, Ulyanovsk, Tula.

Platform ZX Spectrum). We used to discuss in detail what this
strange and unusual feeling when you sit and watch, but
you something to show and not have to run a few days
in a row with his tongue hanging out and a glass eye:)
At five o'clock the hall was filled again and the
organizers announced Nomination Game compo. Here is the contest
came two or three toys, it's over quickly. Stayed three
contests intro. The first walked 512bytes intro, was presented
more than 11 papers but none of my memory. Old effects, only
Spectrum.
4K intro competition brought a surprise. His first job
(C2H5OH by SERZH Soft) aroused great interest, expressed in
screams and a standing ovation, to which a
gladly joined me. It really was an event
4k intro with music successfully blends with the action. Sort of
mini-trackmo. The action itself was interesting to watch - rare
in today happens to see PLOT in intro or demo, the more
4k. The remaining three studies looked at the background of
this fairly pale. At the 16k intro compo was presented one
work, she walked out of the competition.
And again, before the demo compo, was adjourned. And I say
a few words about their experiences ..
I think a good comparison would be with ENLiGHT'95, with
the only except that here there was a place and was the
projector. The rest - is the same .. romantic atmosphere.
People watched with interest work, arguing, completed
questionnaires. No excesses in the range Hall was not observed.
For the organizers it was all for the first time and they
enthusiasm ran back and forth:) A small number of visitors (and
I counted 130 to 170 people, tickets were sold to 120)
contributed to a normal environment. Digress from reasoning and
draw attention to the piano in the corner. Someone played on
it, people gathered around 15-20 and sing something similar to
the theme of Titanic'a. Distorting the words, sheet music, but

inserts and music. Although again - after the first 4k intro
the audience was already hard to impress.
At the end of demo compo organizers have announced large
break - for counting votes and announcing the results. In
